Turning 30!!!!

Why O'why didn't I post about my birthday sooner!

The details are already sketchy at best, but I have pictorial evidence of the following ...

EATING

(looks like Pani is going ghetto on someone in the background, common Pani that behaviour is only allowed in Gtown haha)

DRINKING

Why not have one drink, when one can have two.... well appears to be my motto of the night really

ENTERTAINING

(... The PA found this flyer which says Kitty Kat was going to be a headline act)

I chose to have the party at the Merrywell bar in Crown - I'd heard its a pretty relaxed venue, and its perfect for the boys (esp my brothers) who don't mind a punt.

Anywho, the party turned out to be pretty funny- some awkward moments definitely did eventuate. At least this story I can tell... My friend raced over to me, we'll call her Marcia. Kat Kat, guess what.... Rod Stewart is here, Rod Stewart is here, get a camera, get a camera! I said (even in my drunken state), I don't think so buddy, but I collected the camera and off we went. We circle the bar area, until we approach this tiny dude, who really only had one feature that looked like rod, being the hair. I kept walking thinking, Marcia Marcia Marcia.... and I turn to see her full introducing herself to him asking him if he was Rod Stewart ... I just have her image in my head "Excuse me are you Rod Stewart, really are you?!" and he was just looking at her like she was a crazy person! HILARIOUS... Marcia can be quite awkward at the best of times but this one definitely takes the cake!

I have got to say the staff at Merrywell were awesome, and made my party fantastic. David had everything covered, so shout out to him for doing a great job! The food was all delicious, and just so much of it! I know they are famous for their burgers so I got mini burgers, beef tacos, pork quesadilla, Vietnamese rolls and buffalo wings. They even brought out two huge birthday cupcakes as my birthday cake! Good thinking guys - I was just way to unorganised to get a cake.

After a few more drinks, we ventured up to the dodgy clubs in crown. They were seriously crapola! and in my drunken state I ended up pashing on with some random dude, and to which I was told a few days later by the kiwi that I said to her at the time, I just kissed him to get rid of him. Yeah Kitty, who said alcohol doesn't impair your judgement? haha As the night was just reaching a whole new level of class, we all decided to call it quits, and ventured back to the hotel room.

I was staying at Metropol again, basically because of its convenience  That said, it does lack in some areas, like bathroom privacy. From 9am Sunday morning I was sick, REALLY SICK! Put it this way, I'm sure my peeps were not impressed to wake up to "wahhhh I spewed on myself" -- but I'm pretty sure I just heard laughing. By midday I finally passed out, and woke up later in the day to find that everyone had left. I did have a note from Pani telling me she didn't want to wake me, and left me munchies for when I got my appetite back. That day felt like the longest ever! Haven't had a hangover like that for a LONG time!

Meanwhile, I have stayed at Metropol a few times now, and I think I've done my dash with it. This is the view from Level 9 - pretty crappy to be honest.

I must say that Jessica at the reception desk was so helpful, and moved me from a room for two, to a room for four, which was awesome. So Jessica, if your reading, good work!

All in all, I had an awesome time! So glad I decided to celebrate the night with family and friends and have a good laugh. Turning the big 3-0 ain't so bad afterall!

PS - Looks like I had a thing for the selfie during the night...

Enjoy peeps!!! xxx

Frenchie Friday

Hey guys...

I think I'm still adjusting to the whole travel to work thing. By the time I get to work, feels like I've traveled for hours. My productivity has kinda dropped at work, I am just drained all the time. I think I really have to incorporate exercise into the schedule.. it would really help I think.

Any who I drove back to Geelong the other night, and right in front of me I witnessed a scary car crash on that day Melbourne had that crazy storm at 5 pm  I rang the police and emergency but I didn't know what I was doing and just drove right home and burst into tears. After my little melt down I said to Mum later, you probably think I'm a nut case, but she said she was just worried I had shock. So that really wasn't a good end to the working day that's for sure, I just hope the people are okay!

On Friday after work I met my parents after work for dinner at Bistro Guillaume at Crown.
We thought we'd go Gabrielle gate' style for dinner... I don't even remember the last time I went out for a french meal.

I actually really enjoyed it there... I ripped this photo off the website. I really liked the interior of the place and it had a good vibe.

I had never tried snails, but I thought hey, I'm going French, might as well do what the locals do (Melbourne - France same same :P ) ...

Escargot tastes like mussels. They just take on the flavour of the saucy stuff you put on them. So by saying I liked them am I just saying I liked the sauce?

I took my photos too late to show the pretty meals before they arrived at our table. My parents were quick to load up their plates with the side of peas on their plates...

This was mums Salmon... not that you can see it at all.. but Mum said it was really good.

Dad got their steak with Bearnaise sauce. As you can see he has slopped the sides all over the menu ... we really are not the classiest of eaters. We managed to drop bread and potato on the ground, and just make a general mess. What is wrong with us, its like eating with a bunch of 5 year olds.

I got the bouillabaisse ... which was a thick seafood chowder kind of soup. I love seafood, and the scallops in it were amazing... but I dunno it almost tasted like it had a pumpkin base, and I hate pumpkin soup, so I was a little disappointed. That said I picked out all the seafood and it all was yum... so it wasn't all bad.

I am yet to try Rockpool... and I think that's next on my list! Have you been there? and do you think its lived up to its hype?

Pani came over on Saturday night.. She had a really rough week so it was good to make some plans of what to do in the next month or so (that don't involve solely going out and drinking). We are thinking of doing the run for the kids. Its on in just under 2 months... I have lost all fitness so it would be a big ask for me. But that said I like the idea of getting the chance to run on the bolty bridge.. I mean when else can you ever get to do that? Have you done the run before? How did you find it?

My study period officially starts in a week... I am enjoying the free time before I'm glued to the books! I can't see my posts getting much more exciting than this though which is really quite sad... Hope you all had a good weekend!

Maxin' and Relaxin'

Hey all,

Hope your having a good weekend!

I must say I am pretty impressed with myself for making home made strawberry jam. This stuff tastes unbelievable! but talk about sugar high... this stuff is not for the weak! Perfect start to my Sunday!

I finally think I have got this flu thing under control. I got into work on Thursday and realised I really shouldn't have been there and went straight to the doctor! Probably should of done this from the start but I hate seeing the doctor! ... Its not the doctor as such, its the waiting room that puts me off. No matter where you go there seems to be some weirdo causing trouble. Thursday I fluked getting an appointment just as I walked in as someone had cancelled, however there was a child there shrieking incessantly about " I want to see bla bla" ... okay buddy you wanna see you mate, but can you please calm the hell down! Thank goodness I only had a 10 minute wait!

Anyway the doctor sent me home and I managed to occupy my time with lots of napping and relaxing. I feel much better for it I must say. By Friday afternoon my fever had gone and I thought I would venture out in the evening to visit the parental's who were staying at Crown Metropol.

When I got to Metropol I rang Dad to tell him I was in the foyer only to realise I was in the wrong place --- Crown Promenade.... awkward! Then I totally got disorientated and did this massive circle to track down Metropol.... Seriously what the hell! I usually have a good sense of direction! (Mez, do you still want to attempt doing the amazing race with me after that ha ha) Anyway I have got to stay there! Perfect for a girls weekend with the day spa and the hot baths that overlooked the city! I was amazed by this... Maybe I need to get out more! Have you stayed there? What did you think?

We went to The Atlantic for dinner in Crown which was damn good. I am a massive seafood fan so I was happy to chow down on these delights!

Could not decide! ....

Oysters were certainly demolished by all!

My main ... Prawns! You cannot go wrong.

Dessert - Some strawberries and cream stack = deliciousness

I am looking forward to next weekend already. I am sick of plodding around at home... there are only so many times one can paint nails! I have a work party on Friday night which will be enhanced with their decision to supply the masses with Moscato (HORRAY!)

Pani is coming to stay with me Sat night and we plan to have a proper girls night out (touch wood the rain stays away but I'm not counting on it). I feel the need to create some delicious cocktails .... honestly the sweeter the better! Any ideas? (We do not have a sophisticated pallet ha ha)
