Prowling around the sales bin

HAPPY NEW YEAR PROWLERS!

It is my last day of holidays and I have officially done absolutely nothing! And loving it!

I haven't really done anything eventful during my time off.. I did venture off to the shops a few days after boxing day. I did get a bit carried away though, which is annoying. I think I actually do have a problem. I say that then the next sentence I typed was ---At the moment I want a few more dresses for work and another pair of work shoes. Hrmm do I really??

So this is the list of discounted/useless items I bought :

  • St.Tropez Self Tanning Mousse ($40), tanning mitt ($10) as well as my ever reliable Garnier body milk ($9)---(Note that I just invested in a stack of tanners a few posts ago)
  • Lamp from Freedom (this was actually needed $50)
  • Revlon Photoready and powder (I think both together was $36 --- 1/2 price at Chemist Warehouse woo hoo!)
  • Two dresses from Myer (One full price $80- and one half price down to $80-)
  • Circulon fry pan (40% off at Myer down to $72 -- wanted for ages and def is awesome!)
  • Took back full price dress from Myer, bought 3 others instead... one from Forever New for $60, and two from portmans $30 and $70.
  • Cute and comfy Lavish sandles for $40 (My never fail True Blue Shoes --- Syd Road, esp for Tony Bianco, RMK)
Okay so there wasn't anything on the list outrageously expensive, but the point is , do I really need it - I guess it all adds up. More dresses to sit in my cupboard for when I loose that extra 10 kgs! (Yes - Sometimes I am one of THOSE shoppers). I usually roll my eyes when I hear people taking on shopping bans. Maybe I shouldn't be so critical and actually need to give it a go.

Anyway so pictures tell a thousand words so here we go....

Dress I took back --- Felt old and frumpy. Colour did nothing for me either...

Karen Walker Hi There dress... Discounted to $80! Bargain! But it was missing the belt, so I had to improvise as follows....

Black belt and heels and I'm ready for the hot weather when I'm back at work!

Okay I must admit, this stuff is good. It did take me 3 coats to get the colour I wanted, but that said, the colour is staying and looks natural. I feel like the Garnier mousse (check out my post on tans here) could possibly build to this colour if I actually gave it a proper go - plus Garnier is like a third of the price & we all love that esp if you tan regularly! So I'll keep you posted on that one.

See True Blue have so many to pick from, limited sizes though! $40!

Love this colour, perfect against a summer glow

Probably should have whipped on this outfit for new year. But all good! This black dress from Sportsgirl has been very good to me!

Okay so Circulon is expensive, is it worth it, YES! I have been using this for nearly every meal from when the day I purchased it. Once you get used to how the lil baby cooks, you'll be loving it!

Hrmmm the fry pan is a bit random in this post huh haha.. Anyway so I'm hoping I've got the impulse buying out of my system. Did you get any awesome bargains during the sales? What kind of things did you get? Love to see how you all faired! And did anyone actually attempt the shops on boxing day?

Hope to post about New Years soon!

Spring has Sprung!

Heya guys!

My weekend went far too far fast as usual! On Saturday I thought I'd pop into Highpoint to go and hunt down that Penny Peplum top I rambled on about last post. So I rang up Portmans and made sure they had it in stock and off I went... all was going well until I hit the car parks! OMG! Drainer! After driving around in circles for a while I gave up and went straight to the city! I should really have opted for this in the first place, but never mind!

I went straight to Melbourne Central and found the top! Horray! It is a bit shorter than anticipated, but I still love it. I wish there were more of these peplum tops in a cotton type fabric with a cap sleeve. Sportsgirls Peplum tops are awesome, great colours but they are all sleeveless! How much better is Sportsgirl lately! I've seen a few cute dresses in there of late. I think I might give it more of a chance now.

Anyway as I raced out of the shops, really to avoid more spending, I spotted this necklace in Forever New that would go well with that black peplum top I bought on Friday. I really need some cute statement necklaces! This was $25 ... and I think money well spent!

So by Saturday evening I ventured down to Gtown to visit mum and dad. Far out Dad was so excited about the lap top, he ripped open the box right away and was mucking around on it most of the evening. He said wow it has a webcam now I can talk to you all the time ... so we set up skype accounts haha I'm sure the thrill will pass! I'm not keen on this webcam type scenario!

On Sunday we went out to lunch at the Lord of Isles... my parents regular. They love it! I think my parents are very much creatures of habit. When my brother walked in he said, oh you have the warnie look going on, referring to my lippy looking like zinc hahaha Thanks! My other brother is overseas at the moment -- how is this, he went to book a ticket home on the 29 of August except he did it for September instead. Now he is stuck for another month lol... this is typical of him! I dunno why you would want to come home early anyway! Enjoy it all while you can!

Anyway after that I went to visit Pani who had a few adventures to tell me about. That girl I tell you, 29 going on 18! haha (Sorry Pani)! She managed to pass onto me a few bits and pieces that she knew I might like! ahh Such a good friend!

I love the Photoready make up and this powder... people always comment on my skin. This stuff really is the key people!

The gloss and two lipsticks. My kinda colours! Knows me to well :)

As I was writing this post I actually had a call from a guy I went out with a few times and wanted to 'catch up'. Hrmmmm this always sounds suspect to me... avoid avoid avoid!...This is why you never answer blocked numbers people! What are your best lines of excuses to get rid of people? Of late I've been running with 'so busy with work and all, you know, tax time' .... man if that isn't a brush off I don't know what is lol

I have had today off to study but unfortunately I haven' done anything thus far, after I slept in, did some cleaning then went to do groceries and what not... I couldn't stay inside its just too damn nice! I love this weather! Just makes me excited to know that summer is around the corner! Are you a long summer night kinda person or snuggle up to the heater winter chick? I feel like when I was younger winter was the best, now I just love the long days.

I also managed to procrastinate and paint my nails, Essie - Pink Parker. Loving it! Not that you can tell but its neon and loud! Loving this against dark jeans or a little black dress and a tan!

Hope you had a great weekend y'all!

Greys Be Gone!!!!

Maybe 3 weeks ago now I headed down to Geelong to spend time with mumma. I guess it would suck to live with boys all the time... who are you going to talk about shopping and the like to ?! So I came down on a Friday night and left on the Saturday night.

On Friday mum and I decided to try the Customs House for dinner... it is located along the water front and looks gorgeous. Before we go on excuse my horrid picture taking... I was trying to be subtle so I snapping quickly...

This is a terrible picture .... you can't see the water that is lit up by the blue light.

From chef - an asian broth.. it was horrid. What was the kitchen thinking serving this up to people!

For entree... mum had this interesting tastings plate. In the cup was this thick and gluggy pumpkin soup, some beef carpaccio and I think some procuttio and something salad. I think mum wasn't that impressed!

My salad was beetroot and goats curd and walnuts and pear! Just not good at all! It was literally jelly on a plate with chunks of randomness on the plate. The walnuts were good... I guess!

Our mains were alright.. but things didn't match the description in the menu. The mushroom sauce was awesome though!

Presenting the bill... in an empty book... which also emptied my bank account needlessly!

This was really a disappointment. The location is great and all but it doesn't make up for the try hard menu and terrible service. There seemed to be so many staff running around but doing nothing. I hate how businesses do this... spend the money on awesome well trained staff.. you will need less of them and they actually control their designated areas properly. We were served by at least 4 different people throughout the night. The meal cost together $176 --- Ridiculous! We had sparking water and one glass of wine, the two entrees and two mains. The food is not good enough to justify such a price. All is not lost though, it still is a pretty place to go to, and its good to see an old building in Geelong being put to good use. Ah well hopefully it gets better over time... definitely some tweaks need to be made!

After our interesting Friday night I went to bed early as in the morning I was off to the hair dressers! and guess what...

I did it, finally coloured my hair!!!

T did a great job! I am really happy with it. That said I'm not 100% sure if I want the foils in it again. Maybe I just go all dark like my natural colour. Although I am loving that my hair is growing longer... slowly but surely people!

Pre Cut and colour...

Waiting....

TA DA! No more stark whites!!!

Horray! I am looking forward to next time ... any ideas you have that would suit me I am happy to give a go. I wouldn't mind experimenting... seeing as I can't do much with the cut for now, may as well enjoy the colour.

So after my excitement I rushed home to get Mum as we were off to get pedi's done! Mum did a bit of ringing around to find somewhere that could do both of us at the same time... and randomly came across a small business called the Nail and Beauty Room. It was awesome! A lovely lady, who I forget the name of, has set up a cute nail room in her house. The bonus is the prices are dirt cheap! We had great pedi's done for $45 each! I highly recommend this place if you are a geelongian. It is located in Highton and they do anything from waxing, shellac, facials and hot stone massage. You really can't go wrong!

After our pedi's we went to visit Babcia's for coffee and cake.. and I passed on the couch. I have been so tired lately! I changed my hours for work and I think my body clock is a tad out of whack! Babcia said " I don't care if you sleep... as long as I get to see you" .. awww!

So that was my little adventure to the hometown!

In other random news... here are a few of my favourite nail polish purchases I have made over the past few weeks.

Finally received my OPI polishes from Brandsexclusive... unfortunately one smashed in the package so that was pedal faster suzie so i'm a little upset about that. Although they happily refunded the money which was good! The colour are... pamplona purple (thumb), ate berries in the cannaries and finally black cherry chutney. I love love love love these!!!

I randomly bought these revlon polishes.. not sure why i got the glitter. It is rather an odd tone so trying to work out what it will look best with. The white is called calla lily which is a sheer white with a shimmer. Love it! I used it as a top coat on my essie lilacim and looked great! Calla lily is actually a colour stay polish... in general not a fan of the revlon polishes but this one has been an exception.

Kit - Winner takes all and High roller

Kit polishes are awesome! I highly recommend them... I love the colour selection! Here is winner takes all teamed up with sally hansen gemcrush big money. Sometimes we just need a bit of bling!

Sorry for my huge posts lately... now with my new lappy I hope to keep much more up to date!!!

Did someone say Lipgloss?!.........

Hey Prowlers..... far out i nearly killed myself... went to get up to put some dinner on while my photos were uploading for this post and i literally slipped and fell side first into the floor. werido! Then i go red out of embarrassment but hello... nobody was around to see it! haha

Anyway i have recovered and can tell you all about my lipgloss collection! o'how i love lipgloss! i dunno about you guys but its probably just about the one beauty product i can't live without. I was thinking about what i have acquired over the years and realised i don't have anything ultra expensive or fancy branded... just standard stuff that everyone can get without breaking the budget (and u gotta love that). that said i am definetly not oppossed to branded items, i just haven't bothered to branch out!

So for everyday use i switch between the following .... papaw (should be standard for every man woman and child!) , Clinique Superbalm moisturizing gloss, and Lanolips! Seriously these are my absolute favourite standards... one of my besties just got me onto the lanolips lemonaid recently and its awesome! it smells so good you want to eat it! haha...

o0o0o0o yeah hit me with the lanolips...
I bought a Clinique chubby stick (terrible name if you ask me) and these revlon lip butters. Personally i think overrated. but hey each to their own. For me i layer the clinique superbalm over the top for that extra shine.
Another assortment of randoms that i often use.....

So here we have two Revlon Super Lustrous gloss' which i love! the one that is just about empty is called racy raspberry and its probably my all time favourite ! but it was a limited edition and i cannot find anywhere that stocks it ... apart from random people of ebay. i emailed revlon about my dilemma and they didn't reply... which upset me ... i'm a good customer of yours damn it!
The CK one was a freebie i got from strawberrynet .... when i received it i thought what is this dodgy gloss... but turns out i really like it for a everyday nude colour.

Okay so time to get up close and personal.... here is a picture of the nude CK gloss...
see... nude with a bit of shine.. perfectos!

........and below is a picture of me wearing the Revlon superlustrous pink pop (i would of shown u the racy raspberry but there is basically nothing left!)
 .... How you doinnnnnn' haha

 o0o0o glossy!

All in all i just care about the gloss factor and the perfect colour... i don't care really about the consistency (i.e. ultra sticky etc--- except on a windy day when u end up with hair stuck to your lips haha). As long as it doesn't smell horrid then i'm happy!

I am busting to try the lippy but Butter London (u know the nail polish brand --- don't get me started on polishes ---that will come in time haha). Has anyone tried them and what do you think? I want to get primrose hill and teddy bear!
Do you guys acquire a tone of glosses just like me? As i'm a gloss fan can you recommend anything i would love?!
