A bit of this, a bit of that....

Can I just say moving back to Gtown is such a drag! Can the travel be anymore draining! I've been taking the train and pretty much sleeping as much as I can! I have noticed I often wake myself up to my own snorting, what the hell is with that! Surely people must be chuckling to themselves. Maybe I should opt to sit next to those annoying people with blasting music on their headphones to block out my sleeping noises haha 

Last week I cooked up a storm of cupcakes for a few birthdays at work - I raced home ready to cook a cake, only to find a massive cupcake tray left in the cupboard. Clearly Mum isn't interested in baking. I bought a betty crocker cake mix which said to fill the base of the cake tin with raspberries, so I thought I'd apply the same them to the cupcakes. Hrm, didn't quite work, the bottoms kinda exploded, I think I overfilled the tins. Whatever, at least they got eaten - after I tried to hide the holes with frosting, and you know, surely its the thought that counts? 

I still remember baking a cake for my cousin, and she told me how fantastic it was, and what the recipe was... my reply, head toward isle 4 in your local supermarket and find the betty crocker boxes, flip box around, walk around the supermarket to find remaining ingredients. Okay so I'm a cooking fraud when it comes to cakes! 

Meanwhile I haven't bought polishes in a while, but I picked up these Butter London colours on OZsale a few weeks ago. Thought I'd pop them onto my Audrey Hepburn tin so the colours could pop more ... not that it worked!

My polish application has been horrible of late.... I actually think I need a good manicure, I have been maintaining my nails for so long, every so often its good to have it done for you! I can't believe I had acrylics for so long, el natural is so the way to go! My nails have never been the same since. 

I also bought these few from Essie. I love Essie polishes...The colours are great, and their application is always pretty good. 

Nice is Nice, Cascade Cool and Lights. 

I also bought a nail corrector pen, the bright white pen and some nail polish thinner. Can't wait to unleash that on my bottle of Fiji. How I miss that colour....

Anyway I plan to go to the shops tomorrow night after work. I want to find a few new dresses for work, hopefully I can find what I'm looking for. I love peplum, it hides sins! and I want to take full advantage of this trend while it lasts - but I want something good quality so I'm willing to pay a little more than the usual. 

Mezzy's baby shower is this Saturday - I'm pretty excited to see her. Work can be a drainer without our daily gossip sesh as she was located conveniently near my desk. At least Jkats is back ... yipeee! 

Spring has Sprung!

Heya guys! 

My weekend went far too far fast as usual! On Saturday I thought I'd pop into Highpoint to go and hunt down that Penny Peplum top I rambled on about last post. So I rang up Portmans and made sure they had it in stock and off I went... all was going well until I hit the car parks! OMG! Drainer! After driving around in circles for a while I gave up and went straight to the city! I should really have opted for this in the first place, but never mind! 

I went straight to Melbourne Central and found the top! Horray! It is a bit shorter than anticipated, but I still love it. I wish there were more of these peplum tops in a cotton type fabric with a cap sleeve. Sportsgirls Peplum tops are awesome, great colours but they are all sleeveless! How much better is Sportsgirl lately! I've seen a few cute dresses in there of late. I think I might give it more of a chance now. 

Anyway as I raced out of the shops, really to avoid more spending, I spotted this necklace in Forever New that would go well with that black peplum top I bought on Friday. I really need some cute statement necklaces! This was $25 ... and I think money well spent! 

So by Saturday evening I ventured down to Gtown to visit mum and dad. Far out Dad was so excited about the lap top, he ripped open the box right away and was mucking around on it most of the evening. He said wow it has a webcam now I can talk to you all the time ... so we set up skype accounts haha I'm sure the thrill will pass! I'm not keen on this webcam type scenario! 

On Sunday we went out to lunch at the Lord of Isles... my parents regular. They love it! I think my parents are very much creatures of habit. When my brother walked in he said, oh you have the warnie look going on, referring to my lippy looking like zinc hahaha Thanks! My other brother is overseas at the moment -- how is this, he went to book a ticket home on the 29 of August except he did it for September instead. Now he is stuck for another month lol... this is typical of him! I dunno why you would want to come home early anyway! Enjoy it all while you can! 

Anyway after that I went to visit Pani who had a few adventures to tell me about. That girl I tell you, 29 going on 18! haha (Sorry Pani)! She managed to pass onto me a few bits and pieces that she knew I might like! ahh Such a good friend! 

I love the Photoready make up and this powder... people always comment on my skin. This stuff really is the key people!

As I was writing this post I actually had a call from a guy I went out with a few times and wanted to 'catch up'. Hrmmmm this always sounds suspect to me... avoid avoid avoid!...This is why you never answer blocked numbers people! What are your best lines of excuses to get rid of people? Of late I've been running with 'so busy with work and all, you know, tax time' .... man if that isn't a brush off I don't know what is lol 

I have had today off to study but unfortunately I haven' done anything thus far, after I slept in, did some cleaning then went to do groceries and what not... I couldn't stay inside its just too damn nice! I love this weather! Just makes me excited to know that summer is around the corner! Are you a long summer night kinda person or snuggle up to the heater winter chick? I feel like when I was younger winter was the best, now I just love the long days. 

I also managed to procrastinate and paint my nails, Essie - Pink Parker. Loving it! Not that you can tell but its neon and loud! Loving this against dark jeans or a little black dress and a tan!

I don't know about you but that earthquake freaked me out! My whole building moved! I've felt a little tremor before but nothing like this. ... and nothing even bad happened and I panicked. These are the times being on your own sucks. If your going to go out you don't want to be alone while doing it. 
I messaged JKats straight away as she lives close by, I needed to know I wasn't going completely delusional and that it did happen... but if she didn't.. the comments on facebook sure did.. phewww I'm not completely bonkers! 


I have had a terrible few days with this horrid flu! It ain't pretty let me tell you that much! I got to work today but felt awful this morning,... but perked up by the afternoon (or when the drugs kicked in haha). Hopefully I haven't passed it on this to anyone else! 


Enough of the complaining... I have more fun things to speak of! I am loving nail polishes at the moment, thanks to Mezzy and Instagram (follow me @KITTY1983)! I used to hate doing my nails but now I almost find it relaxing... is this odd? 


I have been wanting to try Butter London polish for so long, and could not track somewhere local that stocks it, so I turned to the web. I found this fantastic site called Adorebeauty.com.au ! Horray for me, not only did I find the polishes I wanted but they also stock the Butter London Lippy I keep rambling on about! I don't want to sound like an ad here but seriously you should check it out ... sites like this are perfect when we get lazy and just want our products delivered to our door! I noticed if you like their facebook page they are giving 20% discounts out for the next few days... which is kind of enticing me to buy more but we shall see! 

I actually ordered two packages, both came with two samples and a fun size cherry ripe! What girl doesn't love a cherry ripe! You will notice a cherry ripe is missing, I gave it to Rivers at work.... he is sooooo lazy and never works hard enough! ( if you are from the office you know this is quite untrue haha )

The flash was killing my eyes hence the reason they are shut haha.... Teddy Girl Lippy. I actually really like this more than I thought I would. It would look awesome against more olive skin! 

My goodness I look horrid from my flu... however we shall press on, Lippy - Primrose Hill Picnic. 

The Lippy's are really sticky so if that's going to annoy you stay away! However I really like these colours.. I'll definitely be using these little babies! 

Also this may seem weird but I have never coloured my hair before (and I'm 29) ! I feel like I want to wait to grow my hair longer and then give it a crack hehe. I've seen the same hairdresser "T' for ages now, she does a great job with my boof. Trust me, my natural hair is crazy curly and Afro, people from my younger days only remember this about me! Since moving up here I have tried other hairdressers randomly but have really be disappointed and quite annoyed with a- how much they charge (I wouldn't care if the job was good!) and b - hairdressers not understanding my hair.  If anyone knows of a great hairdresser in the city (Melbourne) I would love to try them! I love seeing T (she is hilarious and a great shopper at that) but sometimes I need convenience after work before I go out etc...

I have also booked in at Miss Fox to get my eyebrows threaded seeing as Mezzy loves them so dearly. I'm sick of having my eyebrows demolished ... they used to be perfect now they are really weird looking! I hope they can fix them for me... I have to wait a few weeks until they recover from my last appointment. 

Anyway I'm off to paint my nails... "Trout Pout" style! See you on the weekend guys :)
